The Andy Monument in Union Square by Rob Pruitt

New York City Website Design

For anyone walking through Union Square this past weekend, you may have noticed a statue that resembled Andy Warhol’s famous Factory.

Why Union Square? At one time Andy Warhol used to stand on the street corner handing out copies of Interview magazine to the drug addicts and homeless that occupied the park in the 1970s. The Andy Monument can be found on Broadway and East 17th Street, circa 1977 and wearing Levi’s 501s, a Brooks Brothers tweed jacket, Polaroid camera around the neck and a Bloomingdales bag in one hand.
