Girls, Snowboards, Flames and Burn Energy Drink

August 10th, 2010

Today, I was introduced to a British Energy Drink by the name of “Burn”.  I believe it’s owned by Coke, but I am not positive – my bad if my facts are totally wrong.  That said, this post has very little to do with the drink, and more about the culture they promote.  Focused on the music, indie film, skate and snowboarding generation, their site (www.burn.com) feels more like a video culture magazine, than a brand site for an energy drink.  For most brands this may seem a little off, but for Burn it probably makes sense.

If you think about it, chances are you are going to find this drink promoting events such as X-Games here in the United States or parties based around the culture outlined above.  As they promote at these events, they are probably giving out samples and giveaways that drive consumers to the website.  So instead of having a website that is all about the brand, why not have a site all about the culture and that is exactly what they did.

After watching two videos, I was hooked.  The production was top notch, the stories were documentary style, which is usually hit or miss for me, but these were laid back and easy to connect with.  Below, is one that I particularly enjoyed which follows a group of snowboarding ladies that are called, Peep Show.  All the footage takes place in Quebec, Canada.
