NASA Shops At Home Depot?
May 19th, 2010
Most of you probably did not know NASA was planning to send an unmanned spacecraft to our solar systems largest planet Jupiter. Don’t feel bad, until today, most of the AD60 team had no idea, this was happening. Our creative director and fellow space nerd, sent the whole team and email with an image (below) and the following line – “NASA Shops At Home Depot”. Knowing that we would have no idea what he was talking about, he took the effort to crop the image, blow it up and place a nice read circle around the Werner Ladder.

Putting two-and-two together the team now understood what he was getting at. Visiting the NASA website to read up on this upcoming mission, we were surprised that they would include a picture with such a perfectly placed ladder. Heck, the worker isn’t even using it. Couldn’t the photographer had just asked the employee to move it?
Either way, the team needed to know how advance this ladder was, so we opened up a new browser tab and off to homedepot.com we went. To our surprise, it looks like NASA with all their intelligence and gadgetry just had a simple ol’ ladder valued at $44.98 (link).
A little info on the mission:
NASA’s Juno spacecraft, which will help scientists understand the origin and evolution of Jupiter. The mission, is expected to launch in August 2011 and reach Jupiter in 2016.
Juno will let us take a giant step forward in our understanding of how giant planets form and the role these titans played in putting together the rest of the solar system.
