YouTube Bans ChatRoulette Piano Man, Ben Folds Protests With Some Songs of His Own

March 25th, 2010

This week Ben Folds brought ChatRoulette to the main stage by playing an improvised set to fans in Charleston, North Carolina. The set was a tribute to Merton, The Improv Piano Man, who recently became a momentary shining star for the streaming on YouTube of his improvised ChatRoulette songs.  YouTube demonstrated the innate difference between its quasi-puritanical censorship and its inbred video brother, ChatRoulette, by cutting Merton from its content. Sorry YouTube, but we agree with Ben Folds—video chatting needs more piano and less porn, so let’s support those putting their hands to good use and keep their videos streaming.
